Re: Science & Technology News

What is funny is when alarmists start turning on themselves if one so much as hints that just maybe some good could come from climate change. Even Gordy copped it a week or so ago IIRC.

... but that list is pretty short, compared to the downside. Especially when the polar melting really takes off.

What 'good' would that be, that would offset the bad we've already seen and will see more of?

Hmm, lemme see. The fact that you're going to live 30 years longer on average compared to the time the temperature and CO2 was just right?

+ about a zillion other things.

You should check that melting thing again we currently have more sea ice than 8 of the last 10 years in the Arctic and we are almost record sea ice in the Antarctic . Greenland has now added 400 gigatons this year . and even noaa admits the antartic ice sheet is growing again . last loss was in 2016.

You seem to value Newhaul's apparent civility while mostly ignoring his consistent inaccuracies on matters of fact. You have an odd sense of values.

Large melt events change the story of 2021
August 11, 2021

The Greenland Ice Sheet had two extensive melt events in the second half of July. The second melt event had the seventh-largest melt area and fourth-highest runoff in the satellite record, which began in 1978. However, snow cover from earlier snowfall in early summer blunted the potential impact of the melting by limiting the exposure of bare ice and reducing runoff. The two events resulted in the 2021 season flipping from a net gain of ice to near-average net change; however, more melting is forecast.

Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner.

What glaciers have melted due to human-induced climate change?
Ice on what rivers and what is the historical record vs the current breakup?
What animal ranges have shifted and where to?
What trees are flowering earlier and where and by how much earlier?

Even the ipcc says there is no definitive proof .

Now a list in your own words.
And try to be specific

As of today the Greenland ice sheet has approximately a 450gt net ice increase .

Try something besides wiki any idiot can change it to say anything. I pass.

How about out of the latest IPCC report vs the last one vs the one from 1999.
