pirate Shipped My Family Off to the Bahamas

Winter in the part of Iowa where we live isn't a whole lot of fun. Next year my oldest child will begin Kindergarden and thus have a schedule for most of the year. So, I did the only thing sensible given the situation:

I've shipped off my wife and kids to go sailing with her parents on their boat in the Abacos for 5 weeks. Call me crazy, but it seemed the right thing to do. They will remember this for the rest of their lives (I hope) and should have an amazing adventure. I know my wife is heartbroken at missing out on 5 more weeks of snow, sleet, rain, freezing rain, and cold temperatures, but I think she'll get over it.

The question is: Will they come back here, or am I going to be selling and moving?

Are you serious? You'd waste valuable time to get something as unnecessary as a suitcase?

Re: Shipped my family off to the Bahamas

If I had a dollar for everyone who has asked me to send them, too, I'd be able to charter a private plane for the trip.

You are a generous man WoodsAndWater. Well, there's always beer and poker if you need to pass sometime.

Re: Shipped My Family Off to the Bahamas

Well the youngsters probably wont remember a thing about it in 12 months time but I am sure they are having a great time whilst they are there.

We took our two kids to New Zealand last year and our eldest who is now 8 does not remember much about the trip at all so it looks like we have to go back and do it all again this year. Oh darn don't throw me in the briar patch.
