I go back and forth daily as to whether or not to join this group. However, it's become obvious that I'm not going to meet the type of woman who can endure more than an hour or two of sailing at the office, and everyone at the marina has children my age. Any idea where to meet women into sailing other than at West Marine?

Update

OK folks, I am officially one of 'ya, Single on a stinkpot, however, not a rag boat. I am refitting my 34 Mainship Mk 1 in St Petersburg, FL. Seems 38 years of marriage was enough for both of us. I guess no one can say I have trouble with commitment. LOL

I have updated my profile and looking to move on with a whole new world. Lawnmower is gone, Weedeater and edger gone as is the fertilizer spreader. No shovel or rake either. Gone the way of the wheel barrel. Sniff, Sniff!

I have cut my kitchen down to croc pot, rice cooker, toaster oven, wok and 2 other pans. Galley consist of LP 2 burner hotplate, microwave, and for the cockpit a Weber Q 200 grill, and a portable LP burner. I like to cook on the fly bridge or in the cockpit mostly because cleanup is so much easier. The electrics mentioned are not used except when plugged in. I cook American, Thai, Chinese, Mexican and I am working on Indian. It has been fun crossing up some and ending up with Thai-Mex, Chinese-Mex. I wonder where Indian will lead me.

Like a good red wine with steak and Italian, most beer insofar as I now drink lightly after a 1 year sabbatical. Sassy my traveling companion, a 2.5 year old 15lb apricot poodle and I think life is good.

So there you have it, thanks in advance for the warm welcome.

Not to mention the fact that every time I'm in there I'm irritated that something is broken and outraged at the price I have to pay for the part I need. Even the cashier told me I'm grumpy. I told her it was ONLY when I was in West Marine. lol

"Tacoma Screw"....

Now now, you all calm down. Yes it's a real place, they have all kinds of hardware, SS, AL, Galv, if they don't have it they can get it. Great place for hardware and such, without the gougeing that happens at the Boat Specialty stores....

ace is less han wor4st5 ....yipes !!! mebbe depends on locale....

ok--most important traits in a sailpartner/lifemate--

honesty
reliability /responsibility
communication--is a must!!!--gotta be able to talk freely about anything and everything as far as i can see--and is easier to find a partner for sex than it is to find a partner to sail with....
gotta be able to fish and fix stuff..--i can cook and fish...and sail.....
i like loyalty also--if he is gonna sleep with me , anyway!

Funniest dating experience?

I'm on a date and we are eating "all you can eat, peel & eat shrimp" at the the local bar. It's all going very well, then he excuses himself to use the bath room. Upon his return we resume our conversation, when suddenly a look of panic and horror crosses his face. Naturally I enquire as to what the problem might be. He loudly announces to all patrons at the bar, "My d**k is on fire!!!" I promptly and loudly ask, "Well I hope you've had that checked out by a Doctor." He then excused himself again to the bath room and returned refreshed and in a better state of mind. Yes he washed it! Seems he forgot to wash his spicy encrusted hands on the first trip before relieving himself. My hand to God, I did not make this up. True story. The two of us never did become an item. Can't even recall his name, but I will never forget that date. God I love my life!

Your turn. Share. * * * * *
