Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Engine is good, mosquitos and Gnats are not bad. South Anchorage, Matachen, for 2 days and nights, marina Fonatur for 2 days and nights, then Chacala probably then PV. There I will stay a few days before heading south some more. maybe I'll find a decent sailing companion there. Going Croc hunting today.... The $12 'Jungle Tour' with a a few others from other boats. Touristy things are sometimes on the schedule... Oh wait, did I say 'Schedule'? I meant itenary.., or list, or ?...
Have a great day everybody, and have good fortune in all your endevaours and you Quest.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

If I can't pick up the mainsail myself the boat's too big. I'm planning to stay in the 27-32' range. Plenty big enough.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

I get that, z, but I am such a Luddite. No likely powered systems. That might change in a few years. The windlass, too.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

i got no fancy schmancy nothin..and i am old and broken on top of that...but this is an easy boat to sail unless there is no wind. the main is huger than huge, and i havent lazy jacks yet...but sailing under jib n jigger is easy..everything is in cockpit..roller furled jib, no fancy winches..pure holysheetsmuscle this, and mizzensail...otto pile it,and onward..... easy and enough room to actually live in...

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Sounds like you're happy with your set-up. I had all the lines running aft on my last boat (40') but still miss my monsun. The only thing I didn't care for was the traveler in the middle of the cockpit.

we may be seeing some new folks.... waiting on the requirements to be met...one seems to be yet another bot like nothing, and one shows actual communication......

Angry Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Hi everyone! Please allow me to introduce myself! I am a single 46yr young guy, craftsman by trade and a new boat owner.

I used to ski professionally and was an Instructor in Colorado for a good period of my life. I still ski but the ole knees can't take a full season so I'll be sailing the rest of my days!

I bought my boat last Sept. and am wowed every time I sail her. I plan on going to a much warmer place soon and am very much looking forward to meet some of you along the way.

I started a blog that I've only written a little in and a website that I do't know what to do with yet...I'll figure it out soon enough. Blog is under my sig.

Seem to be havin trubs with my pics...

The boat is a 78 Islander 32MII. I renamed her "Brilliant Sea".....get it?

Can't wait for this crappy winter to let loose so I can cut loose.

Cheers, I'll prolly be a regular here so that's all I have for now!
