Feeling safe in Montana as it would be hard to run up the Clark's Fork of the Columbia River beyond the Noxon Rapids Dam.

SO, 12 days ago there's someone at the front door.
"Hi," he says, "Special Delivery form your true love, it says," As I didn't have a true love, as far as I knew at the time it was a bit mystifying.
"Oh, Ok, I reply. What is it?"
"It's a tree", he says.
I take it round to the back garden and unwrap it. Sure enough it's a tree. With a bird in it.
"Strange," I think, "but hey-ho it's a nice thought."
Next day. the same thing! But there's two other birds this time as well as another tree with a fat bird in it. I buy bird food.
Day three. Another tree-and-bird; another two dove-like things and then three more bloody birds! This is getting out of hand!
Next day all that lot plus four more birds. I'll have to buy an aviary! I certainly need more bird food. And the noise!
The fifth day comes with all that again, but at last something sensible: five gold rings! I'll have to pawn those to buy bird food, but still, that's better!
Day six and I've got all the same again, plus six geese who seem to do nothing else but lay eggs! Then come seven swans complete with an inflatable pool for them to swim in. The next day brings an additional eight maids complete with cows to be milked. This is out of hand now, but as the donor remains anonymous I have to put up with it. Where will it end?
Next day, nine ladies dance through my front door. That's more like it, they're gorgeous. But they don't stop bloody dancing! And they keep treading on the various feathered things running about.
This is awful now. Ten thumping great blokes came leaping through the door this morning! They and the dancing ladies are having a great time at my expense. I've already got enough goose eggs to last a lifetime. The gold rings are accumulating nicely though!
Next day, Oh no! One would be two many but I've now got eleven bloody pipers, not to mention all the rest of the stuff! Keep calm, though; five more gold rings.
Drummers! Twelve of them! The noise! They and the dancing ladies and the leaping lords seem to hit it off. In fact they all go off together, even my milkmaids, taking all my gold rings with them! I'm left with herds of cattle and lakes of swans and forests of birds! Well, if I ever find out who my true love is she'll get an earful I can tell you!
