Given that there are only very few rocks with a density less than one it's safe to assume the rock will sink when it's thrown into the water. Thus a density > 1 is safe to assume.

Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

It’s 1955 at a SAC B-36 base, and an F-86 pilot is requesting landing instructions. He is low on fuel and asks for priority.
The tower tells him he is second in line, behind a B-36, with an engine out.
The Jet pilot’s response: “Ahh, the dreaded nine engine landing.”

As the storm raged, the captain realized his ship was sinking fast. He called out, “Anyone here know how to pray?”
One man stepped forward. “Aye, Captain, I know how to pray.”
“Good,” said the captain, “You pray while the rest of us put on our life jackets — we’re one short.”

Weird?

Once I finish this last bit of Cool Whip, I will be the proud owner of a new set of salad bowls.

Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

A group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, accompanied by two female teachers, went on a field trip to the local racetrack, (Churchill Downs) to learn about thoroughbred horses and the supporting industry (Bourbon), but mostly to see the horses.

When it was time to take the children to the bathroom, it was decided that the girls would go with one teacher and the boys would go with the other teacher.

The teacher assigned to the boys was waiting outside the men's room when one of the boys came out and told her that none of them could reach the urinal. Having no choice, she went inside, helped the boys with their pants, and began hoisting the little boys up one by one, holding on to their little 'wee-wees' to direct the flow away from their clothes.

As she lifted one little guy, she couldn't help but notice that he was unusually well endowed. Trying not to show that she was staring, the teacher said, "You must be in the 5th grade."

"No ma'am,'' he replied, "I'm riding Silver Arrow in the seventh race, but I appreciate your help."

Density of the rock lighter than water then the rock will float. In that case I'll have to think about it more carefully but I think the water level would go up but might stay the same.
Not really an answer but a red herring... since 99.9% of rocks don't float....
..... so let's assume the rock is heavier than the water and it will sink

I am not an engineer but Hint....

Consider the surface tension of the water

Exchange the mask for a seatbelt, helmet or PFD/harness. Although the virus is no longer deadly.
