Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Q: Why did Andrew Wakefield, Joseph Mercola, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Ty and Charlene Bollinger, Sherri Tenpenny, Rizza Islam, Rashid Buttar, Erin Elizabeth, Sayer Ji, Kelly Brogan, Christiane Northrup, Ben Tapper, and Kevin Jenkins try to censor a movie, where the hero uses a shop vacuum to save people?

A: Because they don't want anyone to think there's such a thing as good vac scenes.

There are four types of people in the world
1. People who believe in censorship.

Myth.
The US patent category for "brassieres" was inaugurated in 1914, with the first patent ["Backless Brassiere”] issued to Mary Phelps Jacob. Although not the first design, it was definitely the first to be widely used. She eventually sold the patent to the Warner Brothers Corset Company.

Otto Titzling, on the other hand, is a fictional character in “Bust-Up: The Uplifting Tale of Otto Titzling”, about the apocryphal inventor of the brassiere.

A 'biggrin', doesn't make it funny, but, what the hay.

I assumed StuM's post was a joke, given the thread title.

Otto Titsling, inventor and kraut,
had nothing to get very worked up about.
His inventions were failures, his future seemed bleak.
He fled to the opera at least twice a week.
...
Well, he stitched and he slaved
and he slaved and he stitched
until finally one night, in the wee hours of morning,
Otto arose from his workbench triumphant.
Yes! He had invented the worlds first
over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder. Hooray!

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

I spent my early years in Africa.

At the time, most African women, especially the younger one's, would walk around topless. That was just their way of life.

Then some bright entrepreneurial spark decided to introduce African women to the bra. From somewhere, a container full of bra's of every description arrived.

As we all know (or should know), most bra's tend to be frilly, colorful, lacy, etc....

Being ever practical, African women, familiar with their female counterparts from Europe, could not understand, why European women would want to wear such a pretty garment underneath their dresses, shirts, blouses, etc...

So, they wore them on the outside of their garments.....in essence "showing them off"....this was quite the sight to see.....women in dresses wearing bra's over their clothes.

Area missionaries took it upon themselves to change this clothing habit, but it was quite a colorful display of bra designs for a while.....

Usually spelt: "basket blong titi". Jim probably heard it in Vanuatu. It's the standard Bislama descriptive name for a bra.

(Olsem PNG Tok Pisin "banis bilong susu" )
