somebody explain the logic to me here...

my brother-in-law recently sent me a photo of him in his "hunting gear"

he was dressed head to foot in all the obligatory camo trousers, jacket, hat, boots, gloves, etc...even had his face " painted"

but then he had this bright red safety vest over his jacket ?? Apparently it's a requirement for deer hunting...????

The idea is that the deer cannot see the bright colors, but other hunters can, and therefore hopefully don't shoot you.

I must say the red visibility jacket is like fishing lures, but in reverse.

Have you been to a fishing store lately ? Seen the fishing lures. Every possible combination of flash, rash and dazzle in every shape, size and color. Who determines this is what fish will actually strike ?

Seems like the game is to "catch" shoppers, not fish.

Fishing reels costing up to and over $1,000, espousing sealed bearings and other doodads. Fishing rods the same, fishing lines...more of the same.

One could drop quite a bundle of $$ on fishing gear, but no guarantee of actually catching a fish, that still depends on "blind luck, local knowledge, skill ",commodities not found on the shelves.

I'm avid fisherman myself. I pride myself on being able to spend all day and $500 to catch a 5 pound fish. I can proudly proclaim to my wife, my catch is " fresh".
