With over 20,000 physicians recommending Lucky Strikes, your skepticism shows you must be a tobacco denier. Can't argue the science of smoking!

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Commas, again:
A man walks into a bar, ends up getting into a horrible bar fight, and is lying on the floor, injured.
"Don't worry," says the bartender, “a Red Cross nurse is in the building, and is coming to help you.”
"Oh no," groans the victim, "couldn't I have a blonde, cheerful one?"

Did people used to wear shoes when diving into a pool or swimming? I never have, at least not intentionally.

Pre WW2 although doctors were still being used in advertising well into the 60s.
Interesting that Amelia was the first woman to fly the Atlantic by Aeroplane - I guess the earlier women flew to Salem by broomstick.

And also - they changed to white packaging in 1942. All you ever wanted to know about green luckies here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Strike

"Before the mid 1920s, bathing shoes were generally made from canvas, but by 1930 the old style had been replaced with the new rubber models. They were, as one can imagine, much more practical, being waterproof. Rubber bathing shoes remained popular throughout the 1930s, but by the 40s, more people were going barefoot in the water, and wearing sandals on the beach and at poolside."

Still frequently worn when swimming around coral reefs

Thank you StuM, I never knew till now. And I wear shoes when in water and a rough shore, but it just seems strange that the picture showed the diver on a diving board, so I just assumed she was going into a pool.
