My family and friends, knowing that I'm a tool nut, have gifted me with countless collections of socket wrenches, etc, over the years. While the sockets look cool in their brand new rack, fresh from the store, once a socket is removed, it is unlikely to return to that same spot it once occupied. There are various reasons for this, which would take to long to explain here.

Suffice it to say, all my sockets, both metric and "American" now reside in a big plastic container, where they happily co-mingle with each other, with the explicit purpose of annoying me or trying to hide from me.

I don't know how many sockets reside in that container, but it is easily a 3 digit number.

If I know I'm going to need a socket, I start my day early, needing the extra time to search for...and find the requisite socket.....I've come to terms with this and have accepted my fate as one of the many cursed to be looking for a 10mm socket or other sized socket.

I have thought of painting the 10mm socket red so as to stand out from the rest, but this would lead to painting other sockets other colors, which would undoubtably cause yet more confusion.

Just as AA deals with alcoholics, there should a "SA" ...Socket Anonymous...where folk can come to commiserate and share their experiences, frustrations and joy whenever an appropriate socket is found.

Speaking of sockets.
A lunatic escaped from the asylum via the laundry.
Having been on short rations for some years he bangs one into a couple of the ladies working there before climbing out the window and running.

The next day the local paper ran the headline --

'NUT SCREWS WASHERS AND BOLTS'.
