Re: The Mallorca Squad

Weavis did well to pass on the SG...lovely tone and action but neck heavy..also not reactive to the amp till quite loud. Works great with a double stack of HiWatt 100's ala PT. Not popular with the neighbors.
Do not encourage Weavis to get airplanes...the camper is much better. Goes well with the Fender acoustic.
Just set up my old JMP1 quad rack rig the other day and started programming her up. Now that's some loud fun, haven't used it for years. (No close neighbors out here in the great north woods) :-).

Im a Fender shape and action lover.
Have a Strat and also a Tele. Have a Yamaha acoustic and Yamaha keyboards.

I use a programmable zoom foot pedal and have a line 6 amp and speaker which I use as preamp before a Bose L1 system.

Only just got back to messing with them recently as a distraction from a few pressures of life. Liking it.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Here is a picture of my favorite amp. It's called a FireChief. I designed it in conjunction with a friend, now deceased, who was quite a factory avionics tech for Honeywell. Notice the TC electronics GMajor built right in. Electrically it sits between the two channel pre-amp board and the dual monoblock output stages. Used some circuits from a book called The Ultimate Tone for the pre-amp with custom voltages...the output of the rig is stereo. Two were built to comprise a quadraphonic total rig, all midi contolled. Speakers are a mix of Marshall 4x10 boxes and custom open back 2x12 boxes. The amp boxes are spruce plywood covered with truck bed liner. Total power of each amp head 40 watts. Rig total 80 Watts. Unique tonal characteristics from near Fender clean to raging tube compression. In most cases no peddles required. Mr Gilmore would like these. Unfortunately both are down right now due to failed parts. I have asked Mike Saldano if he would dig in there and he said he would but I have not taken them into his shop yet. Soon I hope.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

As the grey days of Thanksgiving are upon us here is a link to a video shot while fooling around on Idora last summer. (Google drive link) The young man is my son, who proves to be quite the acrobat. I wish I was in half the shape he's in. The sound track is called "Pirates". I recorded it with some musical friends in my studio using the Fire Chief rig. The video is a high def format. I hope some of you can enjoy it. Happy Thanksgiving.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

I paid my way through Uni doing session work. (30 some years ago...... )

Im more yer Rock and roller than the modern House stuff. Just wanted to see if I could blend it.......

I broke my wrist in 2006 and played to build strength and mobility. I reckon Im still 30% slower than I ever was. Such is life. Cant find my CDs with other stuff but I reckon one track is enough.....

Music was important to me once, now not so much.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Yep, it comes and goes. I try to stay proficient enough that when an idea hits me, I can get it done without too much prep work. Being geezer, the social context is all but gone but the stimulation from the sound is still there.

Holy cats there SM, you could do the sound track to Titanic with all that. I suppose you are using a proTools rig?

LOL. I use Cakewalk for mixing down midi and Digital. The added digital drums on the keyboard work fine for me. I prefer minimalist in terms of equipment.

My keyboard.

Usually no less than 10 tracks. Here is an example of finished sound. Will not be as good as yours but listenable.
