The Navy had it's way

Still remember US Navy Destroyer cruising. Heading east to the Med from Charleston you lose time due to time zones. When you lose time it was always at night, thus loss of sleep. But returning, you gain time- it was always in the daytime during work hours.

Who says you can't have it all?

Also returning to homeport we threw out all the food bought overseas due to import regulations, I still remember cases of steaks getting "deep sixed."

A special "thanks" to all the contributors and moderators who make this site work.

Re: The Navy had it's way

Did a Tin Can, a couple of frigates, couple of oilers, a battleship, and an amphib. As a Snipe, the time change only really affected when Mid-Rats were served, having to stand an extra hour's watch one way (bad), or having a short watch (good). One ship that I served on tried to split the difference each way....boy that was confusing!
