This thread was put on hold because it at first appeared the OP had a grudge against Florida, and might not be cruising related.. Unfortunately, the situation is more complicated than that, and there are good reasons to either avoid the destinations, or to be extra-cautious if there, so the thread has been reopened for the time being.

This stuff is not uncommon in Marathon between the anchor outs. Not all the anchor outs, but the fringe ones.

I have spent 3 winters in Marathon on a mooring the past 7 years. Never a problem and even twice when my dinghy decided to go walkabout someone brought it back to me.
