Very Funny Video "On a Boat" from SNL

Normally I do not like SNL, but this was very funny.

Thanks for sharing but I prefer songs that don't need the bleep button on every other word.

I don't get it.

Is this a parody of something else?

I took it as a parody of powerboat owners....but I guess we each find our own way of looking at things...

Colorado, not such good replies so far, eh? I loved this and laughed my ass off when I saw it a few nights ago, but you gotta be younger to appreciate it. It is not a parody of being a powerboat owner, it is a rap parody. If anyone remembers "Wierd Al" from the 90's, this is a modern equivalent of that. Ya have to know who the people in the song are to appreciate it, and I doubt many in this forum know who T-Pain and HotRod are.

Cheers

Bill

I'm fine with it...so long as they stay on big powerboats and I'm not within earshot.

I'm only speaking for myself, understand, not for any other member who's about to turn 61, but I laughed my ass off too!

You're right, BadFish Bill, this is a parody of rap - and a very well done one at that with very high production values. It reminded me, a bit, of the Justin Timberlake parody "D**k In a Box" from SNL a while back. That, too, is hilarious, but it takes a certain sensibility to appreciate it.

One small matter - Weird Al Yankovic certainly performed in the 90s, but he isn't from the 90s. He actually has been doing song parodies since his college days at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) in the late 70s. Just a bit before your time, I know, but by the time you were born, Weird Al was already a star - in LA, at least - and beginning to become well known nationwide.

He's one-of-a-kind, that's for sure.

Bill,
You are absolutely right (except about Weird Al being from the 90's, as I used to listen to him in the 70-s and 80's on the Westword One Radio Show called Doctor Demento.) The powerboat comment was basically because I could see more powerboaters like this than us sail types.
But yeah, I laughed my ass off too, hence my thought to share it with you all.
Glad at least a few of us understand/appreciate it!

I'm not a big fan of rap, but this made me laugh. It's SNL for crying out loud, it's a parody and a good one in my opinion. Some of the naysayers on this thread remind me of my parents when the Beatles started out -- damned long-haird freaks! Lighten up.

While I like Jimmy Buffet, I really am tired of sailors thinking his is the only music in existence or worth listening to.

Nice share as I anything with boats in them. I do love the fact that they parody rap vids that always have the flashiest cars, boats, houses, girls, etc...

I like the other one he did with Justin Timberlake for the holidays, called c*cK in a box. Funny stuff too!! Thanks for the share as I sent it to my wife to laugh at!!
