Oooh - I was so excited. I dropped 4kg over two weeks in the UK.. Do you think that's because it's so cold there your metabolism speeds up?

What? Do they have a shortage of caramel covered popcorn in the Isles?

Could be. Arctic explorer burn 5000 - 7000 calories a day and a large part of that is just to stay warm.

Re: Wanted: Fat Sailors

Congratulations Saucy!

I am embarrassed to report that I have lost 7 lbs., not sure how many stones that is, but it was not from the three weeks of dieting and exercise but the last six weeks after I started the diet that I have been fighting the flu, and possibly mono. Please no kissing jokes...I have heard them all...

How I managed to wait until my 40th year of life to have an outwardly symptomatic bout of mono is beyond me...but needless to say feeling like someone was stabbing me in the throat all last week kept me from eating...

I think the exercise helped me though drop a dress size in the waist at least.

I just looked @ the scale this morning though, and though I really want to drop another 30 some lbs...

I am happy for you Saucy! Hopefully, we can both keep this weight loss going...

I hope you're joking. If your profile pic is anything like current, you'll disappear if you lose any more of you!

I dropped 5 KG last week, too. It hit my foot and I was on crutches for two days.

Re: Wanted: Fat Sailors

Holy Cra-Moly! 14 lbs. is only ONE stone??!!?? Well, gosh my weight sounds a lot better in stones!

Saucy, the picture is current as of last Fall...and the same weight I am...it is all in my hips, butt, and thighs...argh! I keep trying to tell myself my brain just weighs a lot...but I think I need to face reality ;0)

Oh, and then there is the fact I cut all my hair off...that was probably five lbs. right there....

and Don, 'Bah-dum-Bah!', that was funny!

Re: Wanted: Fat Sailors

Oh dear.... I have to confess that I'm down by 6lbs since new year. Careless of me but there you go.

Hey HH - do what I did once for Xmas - shave it into a mohawk. That makes people stop dead in their tracks.

OK my hair was short when we met but I wasn't bald. It's long enough now to need its annual cut... anyway it was HH's hair I was talking about.

According to the Wii Fit, if I lose another pound I'll merely be overweight. My wife has the whole family on the d*mn thing because she has the idea that the electronic scale built in to it is more accurate than the squeaky spring loaded one in the bathroom.

Since disposing of the biscuit barrel on 1st Jan everyone in the house has lost weight except my youngest who has always been a skinny chicken. Mrs Minty is down nearly a stone and I'm down 8lbs (I thought it was 6 but I can't subtract in imperial units)

That's the family diet - 3 good meals a day and no biscuits.

Re: Wanted: Fat Sailors

Haven't checked in with this thread or been looking at CF as of late. Been super busy!

Hey, congrats Mintyspilot on the weight loss! We have 'Biscuitville' here in NC ~ I have only been there 3 times in seven years and I fear that even driving by and inhaling the cholesterol-laden air could make me gain weight.

Well, I have gotten serious. I am now on my third week of consecutive rowing...although I had gotten 3 weeks in during January before I got sick.

Anyway, I am over the feeling weak and the not fun part of feeling like a big slug and now my muscles are waking up. The tone is coming back to my legs, I have lost about six lbs since the week before I started (we had a week's vacation on the boat that was physically demanding).

I have been tracking my calories on Livestrong.com and cannot say enough about the free application. I have not necessarily cut out all sinful foods but I am very conscious of portions and have cut down on sugar. It works!

Rowing is the exercise that my body was built for and it responds the quickest to it on the ergometer. Concept2's model is great Concept2: The World's Best Rowing Machine Don't know what I am going to do when I go cruising because I do find it difficult to find any other exercise other than running that I can do that really gets me to reach this heart rate as quickly and steadily...works upper body, lower body, and both chambers of the heart simultaneously...kind of like getting your cardio and weight bearing exercise all in one.

Anyway, I am determined now...I am on track and enjoying the feeling of having muscle tone again and enjoying the working out. Thank goodness!

Take care all and hope your weight loss and exercise sessions are going well!
