What Flag is This?

I was sorting through the inventory inherited with our boat and found this flag. Several of us have been unable to identify it. Gerneral observations:

13 stripes red & white
shield like a US highway sign
single white star on blue field - like Puerto Rico

My guesses are; ralley flag from an event, personal commisioning yacht ensign.

Perhaps a Yacht Club Burgee of some club, some place. It looks quite faded as well.

It is a SSCA commodores flag. It is awarded to SSCA members with certain criteria regarding time on board and distances traveled. You can find out more and become a member here: www.ssca.org

WOW! That was fast. Thanks Colemj.

We figured we would join when we began our exit from the Great Lakes. It doesn't seem to be a bennifit to us on Lake Michigan. We have joined in on some of the Webinars.

The monthly bulletins are great for planning on where you might like to go and gaining experience about actually cruising. The time to join is before you go, not after.

I'm not sure but something like a full year live aboard and/or "X" miles under the keel. Someone care to fill in the blanks?
