Never anchor without checking how much chain you have down and what the rise of tide is. On a similar note when going ashore in the dinghy make sure it is either well secured or above the highest possibly tide line. Embarrassing else, especially on a remote lonely anchorage.

That should read excess fart gas.....

NEVER demand the Right of Way with a ship that is about 10,000 times bigger than your boat... Check the Cowes event from earlier this year as to why....

I have tried telling various female guests this, especially when the wind gets up but so far it hasn't worked.

at least ye gave those neighbors a lil to laugh about--- and they will for looong time--i know those folks....LOL..... be careful and hurry to recovery so ye can repeat the experience....or know that ye learned from it!!
