Wooden yacht from original 1974 film Swept Away

Can someone help me identify this boat?
I cannot find any information on it, but possibly one of you experts can recognise it from the pictures. The film is the original Italian "Travolti da un insolito destino nel mare di Agosto", in English, Swept Away.
The film is available on youtube and the boat is the feature of the opening credits. WARNING: film is not suitable for all tastes and audiences, so if you do not appreciate European films from the 70s, don't Youtube it. Hopefully the attached pictures are sufficient. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum, Paul. Wish I could help you, but that's way above my knowledge base.

Don't know the boat but thanks for the recommendation on the movie. Not to be missed, don't know how I have for so long.

The boat does have a strong resemblance to Herreshoff designs like the J class. That might be a starting point...

Beautiful boats and thanks for the @jimbunyard. It indeed seems to be the starting place. Some similar gems, here : https://www.boatinternational.com/ya...r-built--27147

Re: Wooden yacht from original 1974 film Swept Away

Hi Paul,

I was also in the search for more info about this boat from swept away. All I could find was a boat with some similarities, but not exactly that one.

J M Soper, Philip & Son 62 ft Cutter 1929 - Sandeman Yacht Company

The bow from the one on the movie looks modern than the one from Zephyr.

If you know have any further infos about the boat from the movie, please let me know.

Thank you, and all the best,

daysaildreaming

Re: Wooden yacht from original 1974 film Swept Away

Hi Paul,

after some additional search it seems that the boat from the movie swept away is indeed the j-class 'Shamrock V'

There is a short reference on this site:
America's Cup - J-Class Yacht History - from CupInfo.com

and she appears on this video (heavily renovated):

Please take a look and let me know what do you think

Regards
dsd
