You Might Watch Yacht Racing, If . . .

From today's 'Lectronic Latitude, comes a novel idea to make yacht racing a little more compelling to a wider audience:

"You have to hand it to the Chinese, they've got a pretty dynamic country right now. Gazillions of people are coming out of poverty, and with so many of them flush with money, they are jumping into many traditional Western world pursuits — such as yacht racing — with some unusual twists. . ."

Watching yacht racing the way it is done now is like watching paint dry if you do not understand what is happening....even if they did add some T&A, it would still be pretty dull.

It's not exactly Formula 1, soccer or baseball, by definition yacht racing takes the competitors away from the audience. . . difficult to make it sexy, so this might be an angle!!

I played soccer in HS. This was back in the 70's when soccer was pretty new in the US.

The cheerleaders on waivers from (American) football for getting pregnant, drunk or any other number of violations were downgraded to soccer cheerleaders.

Most frustrating to them were trying to make traditional football cheers work for soccer.
