A Change of Scene

I have a Cherubini 44, probably the only one in Europe. I also have my eldest son living in N Alabama. I am now an old man and would like to bring the boat over to the gulf coast after this next hurricane season to use as a 'snowbird' home and sail some warm waters, maybe get my grandchildren interested. Does anyone have a recommeded marina?

Ooohhh, Cherubini 44, very nice!

Anyway, now that I've mostly stopped droolling....it's been a number of years since I've sailed the Gulf Coast so I don't have recent experience with marinas there, but do have a few general suggestion. The coast from New Orleans to Pensacola is a great cruising ground. I would try and put the boat as close to the coast as possible -- it is a long way down from the north end Mobile Bay. Putting the boat further south in Mobile Bay or in Pensacola or somewhere in the Mississippi Sound would give you quicker access to more cruising options. Mississippi Sound alone is a very good mini-cruising ground.

Any issues with importation to the US?

Thanks for that info, I don't think there will be problems brining her inti the US; I have done it several times in the past but not since 2003

Try these two, Fly Creek Marina and Eastern Shore Marina. They are both in Fairhope, Alabama on Mobile Bay
