Thumbs up A New Beginning

Greetings fellow wind lovers,
My new wife, Cindy and I are about to begin cruising full time in May. I am retiring the end of April from corporate life of 38 years, consolidating our stuff into one home, selling the extra cars and Harley.
While this has been a dream of mine since childhood, Cindy is new to sailing. Fortunately we have a new Tartan 4300 to take some of the creature comforts we have become use to.
Our boat, Happy Destiny, is in storage in Holland Michigan until the end of April. So, retire from one and launch into another. We are truly blessed.

Welcome Petem,

We have a cottage in Holland about 5 minutes from Eldeans. Great place to park yourself. Holland is one of the more boat friendly places I have experienced.

Wish you the best of luck.

Re: A New Beginning

We are going through the Erie Canal after spending some time in the North Channel and Georgian Bay. we will have to come out of that back to Lake Huron and Lake Erie because we are too deep (5'10") for the Trent Severn. Then down the Hudson to New England, I'm originally from Connecticut. We will work our way down to the Chesapeake Bay and the Annapolis boat show in October. Then mossy on down the ICW.

Re: A New Beginning

Congratulations on your retirement, your journey and your beautiful new boat! I was on hull #1 a couple of years ago. Most gorgeous. If you plan to be in New England waters this summer, consider joining many fellow owners at this event: Tartan Owners Northeast, Inc.. It's a good crew who share their experiences both virtually and in person. I expect stories of your trip down the Erie Canal will keep you in free drinks for the weekend.

I got a decent offer on my FXDWG last night, so it looks like my Harley will be heading to other pastures as well. We look forward to following your path south in a couple of years. I hope you will be sharing experiences of your trip as you go.

Re: A New Beginning

WELCOME,

The boat has not been splashed yet? Is that what you mean by storage, and new? I would want to get some miles on her next to the brokerage for those inevitable breakdown, and problems that show up........i2f
