A newbie who will soon be losing sight of shore

Good day fellow sailors,

My name is Sarah and myself and 3 friends will be doing a 6 months sailing trip starting in Cape Town, South Africa heading across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean, North America and across to Portugal.

I am sure I will be needing lots of advice along the way so looking forward to being part of this community.

What size and brand of boat?

You have VHF, SSB and a satellite phone?
You have filed a sailing plan, listing ports of call, on time, so if you do not show up, people can look for you?
Keep a detailed log...

Hope you packed a lot of DVD and or have satellite radio for entertainment?
