Aden transit

Hello community!

I have been asked to sail a 64ft catamaran (which has a cruising speed of 10knts and maximum speed of 12-13knts) from dubai back to greece- does anyone know the steps i need to take-

can i follow the convoy or will i be too slow? and generally is it safe in reference to pirates?

pleased to hear if anyone has any info on this

thank you!

The slow convoy speed is 10 knots. 1 convoy per day

Re: Aden transit

A 64 footer, yow! that's a big one. I would guess you're not single handing that one!

You are sailing in good waters until you get out of the Eastern Mediterranean. After that be warry of unwelcome guests that approach too close. If there are plenty of you and you are in a convoy of some sort you should be ok, but Arab countries are funny about a few things - women should have hijabs, exc. An additional piece of advice is never eat with your left hand, Arabs find that offensive. Be careful about talking politics or religion, the police in those countries are often plain clothed and consider 'wrong thought' to be a crime.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your trip.
