Ahoy from New Member in Florida!

Ahoy! I have been lurking for a while and you all seem to be the real-deal. I just acquired my first big sailboat (Irwin 37) and am ready to... well, maybe not completely ready... to set sail for adventure.

My forum handle is 'RoadRanger' but my real nomen vero is Rick. I live a little North of Ft. Meyers, Florida and am learning more than I care to about salt water, corrosion and barnacles. You see, I sailed Lake Michigan for most of my life and never worried about that stuff.

I look forward to reading your posts.

Welcome to the forum Rick. Yes, there are problems associated with southern salt water that you didn't experience on Lake Michigan - although cold water and a short sailing season are not amongst them. Just think, if you were still there you would already have your boat up on the hard for the season.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I'll enjoy the year-around sailing, very much, although, I usually sailed into late November or early December, until I had to scrape ice and snow off the deck. I often sailed alone.
