Ahoy from San Diego

Hello all,
I'm just a booklover who longs to run away to sea. My husband and I are adventurers at heart and we're taking our teenage sons along for the ride.

Re: Ahoy from San Diego

Welcome.

Do you have a boat or is that the goal?

Once COVID has subsided I would happily take you and your husband for a spin on my boat. It's on Mission Bay.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat made & model in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link:https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

If you need further help let me know, I would be happy to.

Bookdocking/Mermaid, Welcome aboard!

If you and your family would like to go sailing on San Diego Bay I'm a member of Torrey Pines Sailing Club and can take you out most anytime as I'm retired.

We have 25 & 27 ft Catalinas available.

Apollo Wayne

PS I'm always looking for crew so anyone interested may contact me about sailing.

Re: Ahoy from San Diego

Woo boy, did life get in my way! Since last posting things sure have changed. My SO and I are still wanderers at heart but waiting for our land anchors (i.e our teenage sons) to be self sufficient enough for us to cut our mooring lines. We bought a house, something I never planned to do. Now we have a five year plan. We joined a sailing club and started taking classes. When our youngest hits 21, in five years, the plan is to buy a boat to liveaboard and start with small cruises till we feel ready for our first ocean crossing and from there circumnavigation. Until that golden day, I'm reading everything I can, gaining what experience I can afford, and dreaming day and night.

Tried to buy a boat but it was easier to buy a house
My husband and I had to reevaluate and push our seafaring dreams back 5 years. Supportive as our teenagers are they are not seekers of distant horizons, travelers yes, vagabonds no.
Still all is not lost since we will use the interval to gain knowledge and experience. Thanks for your input on filling in gaps on my profile. I have filled in what I can. How do you like Mission bay? I've only sailed in the big bay so far.
