Aloha

... another malahini (newbie). Just wanted to say hello.

Home port is Hilo, but am currently on the beach with my boat undergoing major refit in New Orleans. Keeps my spirits up to log on to sites like this forum; it helps me focus on the good things in life like sailing and forget about the grime and crime here in N.O.

I liveaboard and cruise full-time, mostly in the Pacific basin where I provide free cataract surgery to the poor aboard my GulfStar 52. Casually looking for a wahine interested in learning to assist / spend some serious cruising time from the Tuamotus to the Torres Strait.

Fair winds and a following sea to all.

Aloha John,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. If you are Hilo based do you intend to bring your boat over? Crazy area here for moorings and liveaboards. For Reeds Bay Mooring: Hilo Harbor Manager (808) 933-0414. For Kailua-Kona: District Manager (808) 329-4997. For Radio Bay in Hilo: (808) 933-8850.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Mahalo

Thanks for the warm aloha welcome.

skiprjohn... hey, howzit? Good to hear from one brudah!

Re: the boat; no, I won't be bringing her back home to Hilo. After I do my boatyard penance and finish up with the refit I'll take a series of short shakedown cruises along the Gulf coast. Looking at MS, AL, FL panhandle and down to Tampa-St.Pete. Then after all is seaworthy I'll head for the Yucatan peninsula, enjoy the Carribean coast of Central America, and thru the canal. Then it's hard to port and Tuamotus here we come!

I'm really looking forward to getting back to the S. Pacific. Reminds me a lot of home... really fine people, lots of aloha, and I love my work there.

Fair winds, a following sea, and may each sunset bring a green flash.

Aloha again John K,
You have a good plan. Let me know if you want any news from Hilo. We have a great new (since 1999) club at hilo-sailing.org
Definitely not the Hilo Yacht Club.
