Another Aussie

Hi Everyone

I've been visiting this site for a couple years without actually registering. I've learn't heaps from the posts but have decided to Register so I can ask some specifics. I currently own a Compass 29 sloop that I sail on Lake Macquarie and also some occasional short coastal hops. I am currently having a 42' centre cockpit yacht built for me by Bluewater Cruising Yachts at Newcastle so I can to do some real cruising in the near future.

I look forward to being part of this very impressive forum.

Hi Greg,

Welcome

Lake Macquarrie is beautiful but won't a 42 footer test the bottom? You will have to go crusing!

Hi Mark

Yes Lake Macquarie has been great for us. My wife Heidi had never sailed 3 years ago so it's been a nice relaxed introduction to cruising as we live and work 5 minutes form where our boat is moored. Depth at Swansea Channel has been dredged supposedly to 2.5m. Apparently the money has now run out, so who knows how long for?

G'Day Eleebana,

Welcome to the forum. Ann and I are currently anchored just outside the moorings at Marmong Point doing some varnish and paint work... will be about until the end of the month. If you're about, give us a hoy and come by for a cuppa.

Cheers,

Jim and Ann s/v Insatiable II lying Lake Macquarie NSW Oz

PS When we came in about two weeks ago, the least depth we saw at the drop-off was 7.8 feet and that was brief... the rest was 8+ feet. We do hope that it is maintained, so that we can get our 7'2" keel back out!
