Anyone Around New Orleans?

Hi, I posted before about my interest in sailing, and several of you kind folks made suggestions about what to read and how to go about getting into it. So I've been reading and I just came down to New Orleans from my inland hometown of Kentucky. I was wondering if any of you have boats in Pontchartrain or places in Mississippi or Alabama coasts, or Louisiana or Texas, or I guess North Florida for that matter, that I could come out and get some experience on, daysailing or doing short cruises. I'd appreciate any hands-on experience I can get. Thanks for reading!

Erin,
There are a few marinas on the lake. Id suggest just walking the docks on week ends and talking to people. Or if you wanna drive over to Mobile bay for the day, I am looking for crew for the DI race next month on my hunter 30.

Try the local marina's first as they are closer.

Isn’t the Dauphin Island Race (DI) usually held on the last weekend in April (not March)?
