Aramanta-new to Forum

Hi Everybody,

I am new to this Forum and am about to start the cruising life, starting from the Solent and headed in the direction of the Med. Retirement is only a few weeks away when my wife and I will return to the UK from Malaysia where I am currently working.

We have a 40ft Prout Catamaran which we have had for about five years most of which my wife has lived on board whilst I do my expat life working in far and distant lands.

After years of planning (about 20 in our case) and four children (35 to 26), all through university and paying their way, (sort of) we can at last look forward to what we want to do.

Plan to spend this summer cruising the West Country getting the boat working again after a year on land and then next year be in Paris in May and then start our meandering route around Biscay headed for the East end of the Med.

Been too long getting there.

We look forward to learning from your previous experiences and diverse knowledge base.

Thanks in advance

Hi, Aramanta, and welcome.

I know how that "sort of paying their own way" thing with the kids goes! Good wishes to you.

Southampton based and hoping to do the same thing. Just need to sell the house.
Nill experience and loads of reading.
Would love to join you on some of your day trips to learn and support.
I have my eye on a Prout Event 34. My finance won't run to much more.
Wishing you warm winds, not like this weekend, and good weather for the Biscay.
ps Jealous as hell.

Hi Eleven,

I am back in the UK in May, hopefully to retire. Aramanta is in Swanick Marina sitting on land, though they tell me that last week the the yard was flooded! It will take a couple of weeks to get her back in the water again and another couple of weeks to get everything working again. During this time we will almost certainly go back to Chichester Harbour as berthing on the Hamble is not a consideration.

Have you been to talk to Mark and Audrey at Multihull World in Emsworth? Super people, super place and Cats everywhere!

Would be more than happy to meet up we will probably spend the remainder of June in the Solent, trying to get rid of all the excess weight.
