Australian Traveler Wants to Sail Home

Gday ocean lovers.

Im an Australian traveler living in Canada. I have been traveling this country for around 12 months now and i have 12 more to go. Im slowly making my way across Canada in my car, as far as im concerned, living the dream.

I joined this forum to try and find fellow travel enthusiasts that are planning a trip from B.C or somewhere close by, to anywhere in my homeland. I figure ending such a journey sailing across an ocean would be an amazing experience, im sure you already agree.

I have some ocean experience, and i mean some. But im fit and healthy, very keen to learn, i dont get sea sick and im up for anything that wont kill me.

My father has been a captain of ships his whole life and now works for the Australian Saftey Transport Investigation agency in Canberra Australia. Im sure he would be wrapped if i told his im taking my adventures to the seas, and so would I.
I have funds to contribute towards the obvious expenses involved and like i have mentioned, i will produce hard work aboard as a means of getting there.
My Canadian Visa runs out in June 2011, so anytime around that date would be when im looking to set sail. Im also flexible with the dates if it means i could fulfill this dream.
Please pass my name and details on if you know of anyway i could make this happen. If im being unrealistic in anyway, dont hesitate to contact me also to point me in the right direction.
Hope to hear from you soon, thanks in advance

Just heard of a guy looking for crew (this is through a friend I trust), he is actually sailing around the world for the third time, from what I understand twice wasn't enough. I think he is in Girbraltar but not sure. Don't think you'd need any money except for you own needs. I will pass on your info as soon as I have his, I was considering taking time off and do some crewing for a while, if I do, this boat would be on my short list.
Cheers and welcome to the forum.
Erika

You seem flexible so may want to consider opening up your start point and travel to join a boat anywhere on the east side of the pacific down to the canal.

Flexible starting point

I just wanted to let people know that my starting point for the journey IS very flexible. I am prepared to start anywhere on the west coast, even if it means flying out of B.C to meet the crew.
All my options are flexible and anything will be considered.
Hope to talk soon,
Andrew

Try these folks too SSCA crew exchange
Wont see my friends for a week, but will not forget about my original post.
Also, be sure to read as many post as possible about crewing and crew experiences, this will give you a good idea about what boats to avoid, what to expect, and what is expected of you as a crewmember sailing offshore. Try and round up character references as well, this will be an important and helpful tool for the captain to determine you are who you say you are .

Cheers,
Erika

No worries. I have dozens of references from all types of sources. Very recent ones from employers and fellow travelers on a couch surfing site. So that wont be a problem.
Thanks for all the tips, really appreciate it.
