Big wave from NYC

Hi all. Have been lurking here for a few years and decided to finally join. Pulled the trigger this year and joined a Yacht club here in NYC as well, with the goal of buying my own boat in a year or two then in another two getting the hell out of civilization and cruising.

Mostly getting back into sailing now and still have a lot to learn about boats and maintenance but this forum has been a great source of info thus far and I just love learning from everyone here.

Here's a pic from this Sunday out on the harbor. Super happy to be here

Re: Big wave from NYC

Also, just out of curiosity, for any other New Yorkers here, any thoughts about Manhattan Yacht Club, versus Hudson River Community Sailing?

Re: Big wave from NYC

Welcome to the forums and NYC sailing!

I was a member of the Manhattan Yacht (Sailing) Club for two years before buying my own boat nearly two years ago. Good place to start. But if you fall in love with sailing, you'll crave more. Only being able to take out a boat for four hours at a time gets old. Plus they are in New Jersey now!

That said, I am always looking for interested crew, so PM me your details (both of you NYCers) if you want to come out. I sail a Sabre 38, named Carpe Ventum, out of Sheepshead Bay.
