Buying a Boat

I am saying hello to everyone and that I am new here ( just joined )
I am going to buy a boat and I am looking at a 34 Catalina.
If anyone could give there imput on any boat I would be thankful.
I live on the Texas gulf coast and plan to sail to the
West Coast ... etc.

You can probably find a range of opinion on the Cat34 here from owners who love it to those who wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. When looking for a boat I concluded that it looked a capable coastal cruiser (seem to remember a cutter version?) but wasn't too comfortable with its blue water credentials though much of that lies with the sailor. Never actually looked at one in person but saw a few on yachtworld that looked pretty.

Welcome aboard! I like Catalinas and have sailed two versions, 22 and 27. I find them to be a bit better built than most the others in those size ranges. Hope you can find a good one.
