Cola Vina & Aloha from the Pacific

Gidday from Australia, Cola Vina from Fiji, Aloha from Hawaii.

I'm a lifetime sailor and EMT and have been blessed to be employed exclusively in the Pacific for the last 24 years calling Fiji & Australia home base. Currently as the Medical Officer on a superyacht transiting in Hawaii, we've been playing "pacific pinball" through the islands (including NZ) for our boss of 20 years.

A fellow ex-superyacht crew member turned retired cruiser recommended this forum as a great source of combined experience and knowledge, I hope to make use of it as we wrap up our professional sailing life and trade it in for cruising at our own pace. Made friends with plenty of cruisers in Fiji and Tahiti and hope we gave superyacht crew a better reputation than most If we've met previously don't be shy... say Hi!!

My husband and I when we aren't at sea for work own (for use in our "spare time") a couple of sail boats including a restored 1933 Bass Strait Couta Boat with a gorgeous gaff rig and our "third child" an Outremer 5X which is our latest love project and our retirement plan... cant sit still!!

Nice to meet you and feel free to ask for any insight into Fiji cruising.

Bula vinaka, and welcome aboard the CF, Adrianne.

Interesting boats, reminiscent of a Bahamian Sloop. ➥ https://www.coutaboat.com.au/boat/huia-c36/

Re: Cola Vina & Aloha from the Pacific

Hello, Adrianne,

I am an old, long term cruiser. Good luck to you with your future aspirations. We've some cherished friends who worked the megayachts for years; they retired to cruising.

I have to say, my condolences to you and your husband for the loss of your friend on the Bayesian. It's just so d--ned tough!

Ann

PS. We're located in Tasmania, where there are lots of couta boats, gaffers, of course.

A.
