Delurking

Greetings and salutations,

Another has left the seas of lurker anonimity and stepped into the bright forum sun.

A bit about me i am a 30 year working in IT with sailing experience in distant past(optimist, europa class) but as life goes i kinda put the sailing part behind me and haven't had much(read any) experience since. Well that all changed couple of months back when i went with a couple of buddies for a fun sailing weekend.

Ever since that day all my carefully laid(land lubber) plans went down the drain with sailing taking a prominent role. So for now altough i am a couch potato sailor i am educating myself about anything and everything sea&sailing related while sailing on other people's boats as much as i can.

A part of my tentative 5 year plan is one you have all probablly heard a gazillion times by now(budget, boat, freedom, etc...), but since pretty much all the questions that i have at my current level of expertise are already done to death(bluewater, mono vs. multi, rudder, rigging etc) i am guessing i will have answers for my questions on this forum for the forseeable time.

Anyway glad to be here .

Lohi

You omitted sailing around the world, and I thank you for that show of self-discipline. As you've been reading, there are a lot of hot topical issues now with piracy foremost but with the Royal wedding coming up (50 days!), I anticipate many controversies ahead due to the very high numbers of Brits on CF. And you know how they are about those nutter Royals.

Welcome to the peanut gallery.

Welcome Lohi. I de-lurked not too long ago. It's well worth it. Enjoy.

Re: Delurking

Welcome to active participation. Interesting handle. One of my previous boats was a Lohi 34 which I also named Lohi (since at the time it was the only one in the US). That is suomi for salmon. I am told that in Finland the salmon is considered quite macho since it does things like swim up waterfalls.

Or one could say he is insane to be swimming against the current, in any case both descriptions are apt

In any case i choose it as a word play on my last name and later found out that there are actually an entire people called by my last name(or close enough to be funny)
