Distance from Chesapeake bay to Wrightsville Beach

How long would it take to sail from the chesapeak bay to wrightsville beach? We are trying to bring a boat down and think we may have to motor a good way through the ICW. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Re: Distance from Chesapeake bay to Wrightsville Beach

By asking "how long" it seems you're really interested in the time of the passage rather than the distance. The distance via ICW can be determined simply by the difference between the mile marker at Wrightsville Beach minus 0 if you're starting in Norfolk. Otherwise, the fastest time will be offshore, even though it might be a slightly longer distance - maybe not. This offshore passage is very straight forward and the entrance at Wrightsville Beach is easy. The only offshore challenge is picking the right window. You can get around Hatteras within 24 hours from Cape Henry - depending on your capable speed - and have bail out options into the ICW after that at Okracoke or Beaufort. If you are intent on motoring and bridges, get your jollies then....
