Dutch - Novice sailors

Hi All,

I discovered this awesome community and hoped you guys would be in a position to provide some advise to explore the open waters!

I'm 33 from The Netherlands, and have sailed smaller boats as young teenager. My farther is turning 65 and in his teenage years sailed around Antigua which is something we have talked about as a family for years. I'm now looking to organize a 2 week trip with my father, uncle and my 2 brothers. Although we have some budget, Antigua /Caribbean might not be affordable for us, alternatively we would be looking for the Mediterranean, but really open for any other recommendations.

Not sure in which sub-forum to post this questions, grateful for any help!

Kind regards
Arthur

Good day, Arthur,

See where the majority of you want to go, and check out the flight and charter costs. The whole question of what draws one to visit somewhere is such an individual mix of education, experiences, curiosity, and probably other factors. However, if you like civilization, and culture, the Azores (more recent history) or Europe (longer term history) might save you some flight money. On the other hand, you can charter in Tonga, too, or Tahiti, if it is the South Seas that beckon you.... or Australia or New Zealand (very recent history) and underpopulated by European standards. Tropical paradise? The Seychelles?

Too many islands, too little time. Anyhow, enjoy your trip, and let us know what you choose.

Ann

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Wow - I didn't actually expect any response on this..

We only just picked up our plans to for our sailing trip this week and found all your replies. Thanks everyone!

We are now considering a trip to Greece, and looking for the following
Period: 17/June morning to 24/June evening or 24/June morning to 1st July evening.
Location: Greece. Athens but open to other areas.
Route: TBD
Boat: Bavaria C45 or Beneteau Oceanis 511. But remain open for other options.

Fully understand if I'm ghosted..

Cheers Arthur
