Finally beginning the dream...

Hi all, we are new to the forum, we have been planning for 20 years to begin our bluewater adventures and finally this year we have decided to take the plunge. We are planning on taking our 56ft charter boat to New Caledonia and Vanuatu in June at the end of our season here in NZ... We are very excited to do the journey and explore the Islands, we hope the start of more adventures to come. So all new leaving the country and entering new ones by boat and would appreciate any advice on doing it smoothly.

Re: Finally beginning the dream...

We sailed twice to New Zealand and back to the Pacific (Fiji and New Caledonia) and we always found the entry through customs/immigration to be fairly easy.

Entry through the reefs in New Caledonia is quite exciting if you happen to arrive in bad weather, but once inside the reefs, no problem. At least that is the way it worked for us.
