Future sailors in NEw Jersey

Hello! We are a family of 4 with a Mutineer 15 daysailer. Looking to upgrade to a real boat in the next year or so.
I grew up sailing a C&C 30 with my grandfather but I don’t have any recent experience with big boats. However, my Mutineer has taught me a ton about sailing and has been a blast.
We’re hoping to look for a big boat (36-42’) and since I don’t have much experience, I know I need to take some classes (both for insurance reasons and general safety). So far I only have the USCG Basic Boater Safety Course, which I’ve had for over 10 years. Aside from the ASA 100 series classes, does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want to get too far off the topic of introductions. So I’m sure I’ll post some questions in the proper forums after doing a thorough search to see previous posts with similar topics…..

Anyway. I’m glad to be here and meet people! I don’t have any friends or family that are into boating, so I feel pretty alone. I hope to make some new friends, especially if you’re from the NJ area or surrounding states…. Or Connecticut as most of my sailing experience was up there on Long Island Sound and Fishers Island Sound.

Welcome aboard, Patman!

I would say all the ASA would be a good bet. Available everywhere in the US and will give you a good grounding.

Fair winds,
