Glad to Be Here

Hello! And I'm glad to be here. I'm Rick, an emergency physician, and my wife Lisa is a pharmacist. We live in Montana, and are getting started on our retirement plans - to get a boat and sail around a bit: Including a high-latitude trip (possibly the NW Passage) and another circumnavigation (we've both done one, but not together). Oh, and our SeaDog, Angel (a Siberian Husky), she loves the water more than we do.

We're currently boatless (except for a jetski), but we're starting to look. And we look forward to a lot of good advice...unfortunately after our asking a lot of questions - we believe in experience.

Hi Rick,

Welcome to the forum and good luck on the boat search. No need to say that if you have any questions you have plenty of opinions here on the subject.

My daughter is just finishing her last year of residency in EM. Sounds like there may be an opening soon in MT.

Congratulations on having a retirement. Lots of folks seem to be extending their careers rather than retiring these days.

Since you are thinking about going high latitude, I am guessing that you prefer aluminum or steel monohulls as the preferred vessel for your trip.

I don't like cold weather, so it's the trade winds for me.

Good luck on your search for a new yacht.

Great to have a couple of circumnavigators join us! Hope to benefit from your experience and your stories.
