Headed South on the Intracoastal Waterway - Looking for Boatyard

My wife, dog, cat, and I are headed S; started in Nova Scotia in mid-June, currently in MD, plan to get to No. Carolina before retreating to land for a few months about Thanksgiving time. The boat is a 30' steel hull with junk rig. I am looking for recommendations for a boatyard in No. Carolina where I could leave the boat on the hard for about 5 mo. after doing some serious rust removal and painting. I need a place that can do sandblasting or needle scaler work to remove rust along the inside of my coamings and some on the side decks. Any thoughts on good places for this sort of work? A place that serves a local fishing fleet might be good, based on my prior experience on the Left Coast.

You said in NC, but just south of Norfolk is Chesapeake Yachts, at northern end of Dismal Swamp Canal.

I agree on deltaville - we had some work done there - they had a custom built fuel tank made for us and installed it - it is a 2nd tank so they really had to make sure it did not unbalance the boat --
a perfect to place to work on a boat and if you need help have the best and most experienced folks around --
ask for Matt - he really understands boats and really helped us

Thanks for the suggestions - I see two nominations of Deltaville VA so I will definitely look at that.

Look also at Chesapeake Marine Railway on Fishing Bay in Deltaville. (www.chesapeakemarinerailway.com) They also have a related yard in Deltaville on Broad Creek, but the Fishing Bay yard with reaiway and travel lift handles large boats as well.

I keep my boat next door and were pleased with their service last spring.

Deaton's Yacht Yard in Oriental, NC. It's on the Neuse River.
