Hello All !

I am a new member to the forum today and am very excited about having some conversation with other cruisers! I got turned on to this forum when I bought a dinghy and started thinking about davits. The previous dinghy owner (and an senior sailor) sent us a link to some photos on this site of davits on boats similar to ours (we have a challenging canoe stern).
We are not technically cruisers yet, as we are still at the marina, but we have BIG hopes of getting out by the end of the year. Where to? Many options have floated through our minds, but the main goal is to get AWAY from the United States. The current destination fantasy is the D.R. - I would welcome a reply from anyone with positive tips about life there and things to keep me optimistic!
I am a new sailor, but my partner (who lured me to sea) has been sailing in the Chesapeake Bay area for 6 years.
Best to you all!
