Hello and Good Evening !

I'm new to this forum, but I love what I've seen. I'm a live aboard on a 31 foot Seafarer in Portsmouth, VA. I just upgraded from a Pearson 28, after it had a catastrophic fire. I look forward to reading all your threads and contributing to them as well.

Welcome Jasper, a good way to start would be a synopsis of your Pearson's fire for other members benefit. If you know, what was the route cause of the blaze? Should any other owners look into a system or component that started it? Again, welcome!

Welcome Jasper. Sorry about the fire, that sounds awful. But you've got a bigger home now. Lots of sea wisdom and technical help here. CF has been a pillar in my seamanship & boat ownership learning.

Thanks for the welcome. I believe the cause of the fire was my solar charging system. A wire chaffed and shorted out. This started a fire in my sail locker that then went ablaze. I am lucky I was not aboard due to the heavy amount of smoke that it created. I like to think I could have saved the boat, but the reality is I could have died in my sleep from the smoke. As you can guess, I am going through the electrical on m new boat with a fine tooth comb. The new boat is being named Phoenix...

Thanks for the welcome... I have found sailors are always willing to help one another. This is one of the many things I love about this lifestyle!

Good name considering . I love my boats also but none are worth a life. You might wanna google "abyc electrical standards" and do some research. Even oem are lax in this at times, like mondays lol. GL with the new "ride" !

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Sorry about the fire. That'll be a lesson for me. Check the wiring.
