Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

Hello,
I am currently sailing Round Britain (clockwise) in a Hallberg Rassy 34 (Dawn Treader) and I wondered if anyone was interested in our trip experiences and destinations so far. We are currently in the North of Scotland having started in early May 2012.

We are using an iPad together with a Digital Yachts wireless AIS. Works a treat...

You can find our blog which is updated daily at:

Round Britain 2012 « in Dawn Treader

Howdy from Texas, well actually inland in Wyoming right now, but wanted to welcome you to Cruisers Forum

I'm on an iPad too. Do you have difficulties blogging on it? I have three blogs, two boats and an RV, and my blogs are a mess since converting to my iPad.

Anyways, thanks for posting, will check out your blog. Happy adventure.
Cheers,
Ocean Girl

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

I use my iPad for forums...

Never had any trouble with logging on or being bombed off ....

However there is one big bug... Which is the fact that I can't upload photos from the iPad into my albums or similar... If anyone knows know to get round that it would be great...

Joe... Ae you going clockwise or other way? We are in Essex if you get here before September... That is when we cast off.....

Ocean Girl,
I am blogging on the iPad using an app called blogsy. It works very well allowing you to update and work with a number of blog hosts. I use a self hosted Wordpress blog. Blogsy let's you add and format text and has a really good image upload capability from the iPad.

Tomahawk,
We are going around clockwise and are currently at the top of Scotland (Lochinver) having started from Dartmouth. We plan to be back in Dartmouth by July 19th.

Oooph. I checked out your blog, and whilst it's good to see Scotland hasn't changed one bit (she's still beautiful), it's not so encouraging to see the weather hasn't either. I was horrified to see you photo of yourself (?) wearing full wet weather gear, complete with heavy jacket and salopettes. In June.

ANd that's why I don't live in the UK any more. Yuck!

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

Hi Joe, I'm interested, its on my to do list, just waiting on getting enough time off work.
I'm currently on a tug off the Shetlands, nice NE'ly force 7, with quite a big swell starting to kick up.
Best of luck
Nigel
PS, avoid Peterhead

Nigel,

Thanks for the info on Peterhead. It was on our list of places to go to. Will check again!

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

Well, nothing wrong with the place as a stop over, but I never was taken with the town itself. If you do decide to stop, let me know, the Mate onboard lives in Peterhead, maybe can point you in the right direction of places to go and avoid.
Was there about 6 years ago over Xmas, and was ashore Xmas eve, overhearing a local couple in the high street.
Him
"so wtf do you want for a present you f***ing bi*ch"
Her "away and go f**k yerself"

Wedded bliss

See, that what I love about the Scottish, they're just so warm and fuzzy on the whole.

TBF, you do do get that sort of behaviour on the streets of London and Swansea too. Probably even Belfast...

But certainly not in Liverpool, or even Manchester

LOL!!! 'Liverpool' was my first thought, but then I realised that you don't actually get that sort of behaviour there!! Manchester, I wouldn't know about - too bloody scared to go there!

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

I come from Liverpool but it's on the wrong side on the way around for me to visit. We are currently in Stromness in the Orkany Islands having just completed a 14 hr passage around the top of Scotland. Next stop Wick after we have a day off exploring Orkany.

Enjoy the Orkneys, how was the trip, quite a big swell rolling in where I'm at.
