Hello from Alaska . . .

I stumbled up on your site while searching for a trip from Alaska to Hawaii. I am planning on moving to Hawaii from Alaska. I do not like to fly and I was wondering if there is a way to take a boat from Alaska to Hawaii?
I am not sure it that is possible, but if anybody knows of such a trip, please let me know.
I am more than happy to help out with costs etc...

Welcome to the forum. I will be headed that way but not for a couple of years yet.

Re: Hello from Alaska...

Welcome aboard!! My wife and I have often fantasized about sailing directly from Valdeze or Seward to Hawaii - mostly in January, but for a number of reasons the direct route that time of year would not be a great idea.

Howdy!
I'm an old SE AK troller - now sailing the calm sea in Puget Sound.
I think if I were going to try sailing to Hawaii from AK in January, I'd trade in my sailboat and buy a submarine!
Welcome aboard!

Re: Hello from Alaska...

I don't think the OP said January, but if she got on a southbound boat before the end of September... What do you guys think- has she already missed her window?
At least she could put an ad in crew section and wait for spring.

The fall weather is already in evidence and we have a good blow coming through right now!

Ahoy! Where are you right now? Do you by any chance know a friend of mine from Seward -Mike McKern, a.k.a. Captain Hooks??
Good sailing -

It's definitely starting to get a little nasty here in Juneau. The inside passage is the only way I'd go right now in anything less than 60 feet. Most of that would probably be motoring. Once down south, I can't be much help for the rest of that trip.

Re: Hello from Alaska . . .

Sorry, I do not know a Capt. Hooks. I don't get over to Seward much these days, too busy in my own back yard. Nice town though.
