Re: Hello from Alberta

If you just hang around at Ghost Lake, you can usually get a ride. Lots of wind and people wanting crew. Call me in Nanaimo when you are ready. Nav and Radio in September.

Re: Hello from Alberta

There's an active sailing club in Sylvan Lake - we race every Wednesday, about 15-20 keelboats, 21-24 feet. We host races on the weekends too, though they are not as well attended.

You can just show up on the docks on Wednesdays 5:30pm to find a place. I don't think anyone has been turned away. Races are canceled if there's zero wind or too much wind (so we have had people drive up from Calgary, and didn't get to go out as a result, c'est la vie). Or you can contact the executive for something more formal.

PM me for more details if you like or visit https://www.sylvansailing.ca/

Not to sound foolish, but what do they consider proper gear? To me in a boat that size it would be appropriate clothing and footwear, gloves if you use them and they would give you a lifejacket.

Weekends at Sylvan would definitely be do able, weekdays not. I will check out site and throw my name up for work.

Re: Hello from Alberta

Sounds great, didn't know they did that but ghost lake is only about an hour so definitely in my wheelhouse and timeline. Who knows maybe I'll even get to like MacGregor's as that seems to be most of what's up there.
