Hello from Byron Bay

Hello All,
The agents are looking for a tenant for my house and all the 'stuff' is sorted into storage and charity piles. My mission is to be over the horizon by Easter. I can't wait to see what it feels like to have everything I need in just one bag.
I'll be crewing around the Whitsundays this winter before looking for a boat in the Caribbean nearer to Xmas.
The kids are (almost) resigned to losing their babysitter and I'm looking forward to messing up their spare bedrooms, hogging their remote controls and eating all the food in their fridges when I drop in to stay with them between boats. Cheers Sonja

Re: Hello from Byron Bay

Bryon Bay is one of the coolest places I've visited. Didn't sail there, but did some sea kayaking around the point, and surfed into shore with dolphins. Lovely place.

Fair winds on your adventure.

Welcome Sonja.

Seems like you're a few steps ahead of me.. I can't leave until July but will also most probably head to US to purchase and then sail to Bahamas/Caribean... are you doing this solo?.. are you then planning on a trip back to OZ later..

cheers

Frans

Re: Hello from Byron Bay

Thanks John & Caitlin, enjoyed checking out your blog. I visited Tassie quite often as a child. The thought of doing it under sail opens up a whole new world. Wonderful.

You are quite right Dennis, Byron Bay is ridiculously cool.... but someone has to live here!
I will love knowing that I have Byron to come back to one day. I'm thinking in terms of a five year plan.

Hey Frans, yes I'm traveling solo, as in , I don't have a partner, but bear in mind, I'm going as crew, so not actually sailing solo. Clear as mud?
What are you looking to buy?

Thanks for the welcome Gord... I appreciate it very much.

This is our first time in Tassie and it is definitely meeting our expectations! Food, wine and beautiful anchorages - what's not to like?! We love Northern NSW too and cant wait to get up that way. In fact we have tickets to Bluesfest at Easter, but the lure of exploring the wild west coast of Tasmania may be enough to convince us to turn right, rather than left - at least for a couple more months.

Keep us posted on your travels Sonja!

Caitlin
