Hello from Canarys Islands

Hi sailors,

I'm Belgian but I live in the Canarys Islands (Islas Canarias 28.07N - 015.25 W) where I have a "delivery company" for sailing boats.
"Company" is a great name, because I work alone
I live aboard my sailing boat since many years and when I work I'm also on sailing boats.
Now I search a cheap sailing boat (max 10.000$) and I find on the web some 30 - 35 feet at this price (and lower too) like Pearson 30 or Grampian 34.
Maybe somebody on the community can give some advice /help in my search?
Usa are big... and far
I can't go everywhere ... some are in Florida, other in Rhodes Island.
Thats why I'm now on this forum.
As French speaking, but NOT French I'm more active on some French speaking forums.(sorry for my Pidgen English)
Of course, if someone need info about the Canarys Islands and all the West African Coast they are welcome.
I can given also info for many European sailing area .

Sailing regards

Serge,

Welcome. Bien venue!

The Canaries are a great place. Sailed a 38' ketch there from Gibraltar a number of years ago. We went to a newly constructed little marina on Tenerife's east coast. Here are a couple of pix.

Re: your boat search, you're very much in luck: this is a great time to buy a boat of the type you're looking for. Prices are way down, and there are tons of older boats for sale. I'm sure you'll be able to find one in Florida, Annapolis, or elsewhere along the U.S. East Coast.

What do you plan to do with the boat once you find it?

By the way, cher amis, votre Anglais est excellent....Ne vous en faites pas.

Bill

Thank you Bill,

It's true than Canarys is a kind of Paradise :-)
I plan to come back here in Las Palmas where I live.
It's a great sailing place, near the African coast where I go many times.
I have buy a Pearson 365 five years ago in Oriental, NC for my father.
Now I want a smaller for me, Because my money is used to help an African village in Ivory Coast I can't pay a biger..
I have see a Grampian 34 in Indiantown, FL a Pearson 30 in Flag Harbor, St. Leonard, MD, and few other north of New York.
But at this price, I don't no if they are in sailing conditions.
I understand they are old, and need a lot of TLC, but the most umportant is if the hull and rigging are sound.
Crossing the Atlantic Ocean is not a problem, I do it 2 or 3 time a year since 30 years (it's my job :-) )
Maybe I find one on the Chesapeake area where there is a lot of "old Ladyes".
Have a nice week end

Serge
