Re: Hello from coastal Georgia (USA). Looking for boat recommendations.

Thank for all the ideas. The search continues. Does anyone happen to know of an online site that lists air drafts measurements? Sailboat data has it for some, but mostly not. You would think knowing your height would be more common, but after contacting several boat owners, surprisingly, they have no idea, and want me to contact their broker....who also has no idea.

A good estimate for a masthead rig would be:
I + bow height (2.5-4.5’) + antennae height (2’ if you don’t mind it scraping the bottom of the bridge, 3-4’ if you do)

For a fractional rig:
P + headboard to truck height (1-2’) + antennae height (2’ if you don’t mind it scraping the bottom of the bridge, 3-4’ if you do) + waterline to gooseneck height (see below)

Gooseneck height:
Sole is 6” or so above waterline.
I’m 6’ and the bottom of the boom is usually just above my head so let’s say 6’6”.
The height of the boom is usually around 8-9”, let’s call it 1’.
For a boat up to about 35-40’ let’s say that adds up to 8’.

If you can scale dimensions off of a line drawing too.

A house is but a boat so poorly built and so firmly run aground no one would think to try and refloat it.

It's a little bigger than you imagined, but Pearson 424 Ketch has a 49' mast (above water) and 5'4" draft. Ketch rigged, large cockpit (seats 10). Also pretty affordable for what it offers and lots of them on the east coast. It was specifically designed for ICW travel.

Why not look for an old Prout 37 or PDQ other catamaran

Re: Hello from coastal Georgia (USA). Looking for boat recommendations.

Honestly going that far up the ICW ( constricted waters, air draft, keel draft, tides, currents etc. ) accommodating 8 people on a day sail with 4 overnight, I would be looking at a trawler like a Kady-Krogen or something similar. Just my 2 cents
