Hello from Denmark

I am a new member from Denmark. My girlfriend and I bought our first boat this spring (a Boström 31 from the seventies). When we bought it, it was stuck in the ice. In late November we put it on land in a snowstorm and now it is covered in snow. The joys of sailing in Denmark...

We did manage some good sailing last summer, though, and we have learned a lot. I have also learned a lot from reading this site, so thank you everybody for all the great info. Hopefully, I will be able to contribute in the future.

Greetings and welcome board the CF, BjarneK.

Nordic winter sucks, if you're a sailor!

Hi Bjarne,

Don't have ice and snow all the way to FL but driving from GA today I had snow almost to the FL border. Temp going to 23F in Gainesville tonight (that's about -7 for you metric types) so hard to feel too sympathetic.

So when do you plan to bring the boat across to FL? I know a good place to anchor in the St Johns River.

Hi Bjarne,

I know how it is during this period, 'cause I live in Stockholm and my boat is under snow as well (well, covered, but on the tarp ther is a lot of snow )

Thanks for the welcome. It is always nice to know that other people suffer too

Maybe I should take Skip up on his suggestion and go to Florida.

Bjarnek, Welcome! I always look forward to hear of sailing and cruising in those places that are exotic to me. Sometime during your summer sailing be sure to post some photos.

Hi Bjarne,

Guess you weren't exaggerating about the weather in Denmark. Was watching the news in the US and they just showed videos of Bornholm Island. Snow 6 meters deep, the island essentially shut down, residents running out of food, fuel, and medicine and can't get out of their driveways to get more.

I think Florida is looking better all the time.
