Post Hello from Italy

Hi everyone!
I'm Marco, 47yrs old born in Milano and I'm 4 days from the first theoretical exam for the "over 12 miles limit Italian boat license". I'll probably open a new thread as, for us Italian, the boat license is not an easy task as for the rest of the world and I'd like to have suggestion and opinion about it.

In the meanwhile wish me luck and keep fingers crossed!!

ohhh it's nothing, very easy....
its only
mastering the sail
metrology
sea traffic, /coastal sailing
night sail and lantern
being able to fix dissel engines
man overboard
Navigation
and if you pass exam which you will if you want, but that doesn't mean you can actually set sail, until you know you can physically handel high sea,
its no joke to change sail on middle of high sea, big waves, hardly can hold on to something, shivering, and still have full control like its walk in the park,
not to mention financial aspects of entering this new world, or new planet of yours
did you tell your wife what you up too
about the new planet and all that jazz

all I am saying is let not celebrate too early.

I sail whenever opportunity I get. I don't have my own boat, I do however got my license after 1 failed attempt in 2009 in Norway, where I live
. here is always wind and waves one need reall seamanship and a good equipped boat for this weather,
butI bought a locally built motor boat in philippine and visited many islands on 14 horse Chinese dissel engine,
Hope in not so distant future, sail my own boat from Norway to cape verdi, cross Atlantic, pass the channel and into pasific
i need more money and A crew, then i have to figure out how to make living while on the sea
at the moment its easier to go to Mars
but think can change
at least that's the plan
I wish you luck, coz where you going, that is if you going, you need all the luck you can have
but if you have money
disregard this all together

Re: Hello from Italy

well well well....it went wrong...very wrong but for a very very stupid reason: 15+2 makes 17 not 18. And when, in your distracted mind 17+2 makes 18, then, you get thrown offboard and your exam is over.
I'll try again, with more concentration I guess, in september.

Re: Hello from Italy

you have to get on to the sea, school can't teach us all we need to do to stay alive, seamanship is made on the voyages. for sure you will succeed in time.
